Summary
Plato: Parmenides / Theag
"The song of Plato's Parmenides is a free reproduction of the well-known dialogue in which Plato evaluates and evaluates the philosophy of the Eleatic school. The author has very creatively and skilfully translated into a chosen Croatian expression both the richness of thought and the literary qualities of that work, which, like Plato's dialogues, belongs to the very top of humanity's spiritual heritage. Plato's dialogues are primarily philosophical, therefore intellectual There is so much literature in them, and in some places also poetry, that it is not out of place to convey this aspect of Plato's work vividly to the reader. But the thought side of Plato's text, the end of all free interpretation, is not neglected here, but it also leads the reader to the great philosopher and his discussions with other schools of Hellenic philosophy. It should be clearly indicated that what the reader has before him is not a translation but a creative act inspired and outlined in detail by Plato's dialogue. If this is done, this translation will be a serious gain for the Croatian cultural environment." Academician Radoslav Katičić
